Thanks for all the submissions, authors around the world! We received about 200 entries, and we'll do our best to pump through these in a more quick fashion as we put together Strange Stories. Expect to hear back by Late August on the status.

Thank you to all the Satanists out there for submitting. We'll read through and let you know. We got a good group of about 30 entries, so we're excited!
Forty-Two Books attended the combined convention for Westercon72/NASFiC/1632 Minicon/Spikecon at the Davis Convention Center in Layton Utah July 4-7, 2019.
We had a table, selling copies of Peaks of Madness: A Collection of Utah Horror and Enheduanna: A Pagan Literary Journal from another press the editor owns. The $1 typewritten poetry was a big hit, selling like hotcakes! Editor Daniel composed them on the spot. Perhaps we should have charged $2. Daniel met some new friends, author Joseph Kaukola of Threshold and The Sword, and artist Emmanuel Valtierra who recently published the alternate history Codex Valtierra about if the Maya People had won against the Spanish invasion. Some of the attending authors were Jim Butcher, author of The Dresden Files, David Weber, author of the Honor Harrington Series, Star Trek prop master Dragon Dronet, and the Trimbles as Masters of Ceremony who are known to have saved Star Trek. If you have an earlier version of Peaks of Madness before July 1, we dropped off the last half of the sentence in Lovecraft's Typewriter which is as follows "'deal with...special cases,' he said with a wink."
We'd like to thank all of you who submitted and participated in this first original Forty-Two Books anthology. It was a lot of work, but worth it to read and select the final stories. If you have not received an acceptance or rejection email about your submission (some bounced back), please get in touch with us: [email protected] as all emails have been sent concerning submission statuses.

Satan Speaks! If you're a Satanist who happens to write, you'll love this new call for works. Faustus Blackbook, a local Utah satanists, is interested in the study and collection of satanic voices in the 21st century. He is putting together a collection to represent the voices in the often excluded and hidden community. Currently open for essay, article, creative nonfiction, and poetry, submit by July 15. Collection is unpaid, but what a cool opportunity! Head on over to the page to read more about the call
You know who else loves horror? Ken Sander's Rare Book in downtown Salt Lake City! The book shop is excited to be carrying copies of the anthology, and it's a first that the publications of the Utah Horror Writers has made it into a local book shop!
If you don't want to shop online, head on down to famous book store--headquarters of the Monkey Wrench gang--and get your copy today for $20. Even Mr. Sanders himself couldn't resist picking up one for his own nighttime pleasure! |
